This is being held on Saturday July 19
and Sunday July 20 2008.
As this is the 21st Anniversary of this event, we would appreciate if
all players that have previously played in this event will make a
special effort to attend this year to help celebrate the 21st
Anniversary of this unique event. Of course we will also welcome any
player wishing to enter this event for the first time (you are in for a
very enjoyable weekend).
Prizemoney has been increased to $15,000 for this year's event. In
addition to the Championship event, we will again be conducting the
Friday night restricted knock-out and Invitation knock-out, Saturday
night Ladies knock-out, Under 18 Knock-out and "Pot-Out" Challenge and
Sunday "Non Qualifiers Knock-out.
In response to your request, the top 4 qualifiers from each section on
Saturday will advance to the finals to be held on Sunday morning.
As the first 150 entrants only will be given preference to play on
Saturday at the Berri Resort Hotel, it is suggested that you get your
entries in early. It is also suggested that if you require
accommodation at the Berri Resort Hotel that you book in early as
accommodation bookings fill fast.

Looking forward to catching up with many of you as well as meeting some
rookies in July.
The Oceania Billiards Championship will now be a round robin timed championship.
The percentage retained out of the prize money from the men's snooker championship to support the player nominated for the wpbsa main tour and the ibsf world championships has been reduced to 30% of the total prize money
Re the Oceania Billiards Championships - Following further discussions
by the IBSF with the Indian Billiards & Snooker Association, the IBSF
World Billiards Championships in India this year, the Championship
format have now been revised. On the 16th March the IBSF received the
good news that India have now agreed to stage both the 150 Up
Championship and the Timed Championship. As you are all aware, the OBSF
Board originally decided to stage the 150 Up Championship this year as
this was to be the only IBSF Championship being staged this year -
therefore following the decision by the Indian Association and taking
notice of the communications that we have received from the Oceania
Billiards Players, the OBSF has decided to now stage the Timed
Championships as the Oceania Championships. The Oceania Champion for the
Timed event will then be the player to represent Oceania in his year's
IBSF World Billiards Championships. Forbes Davies has also advised me,
that depending on the number of entries and the time available, it may
also be possible to stage a 150 Up Championship, but on a straight
knockout basis - but this will be confirmed if it is possible nearer the
time.
Re the Oceania Men's Snooker Championships - it has been agreed by the
OBSF Board to reduce the amount retained from the prize money for the
Championships to 30% from the originally announced 50%. These retained
funds will be used to support the player that is nominated and accepted
by the WPBSA for the Main Tour spot and the player that goes to the IBSF
World Championship.
Proposed prize monies may even exceed amounts published for both the
Oceania Men's Championship and the Queensland Open Championship:
